Ocean Hole, Eleuthera, Bahamas
Ocean Hole was a blast! The children fed the fish for about a nano-second before deciding this was the perfect place to jump into the water. They jumped, and jumped, and jumped and jumped. They jumped alone, together and while holding hands. They danced and then jumped. They called jumps for each other to complete as they jumped. The held jumping contests. And then they jumped some more!
Even the littlest one, Francis (4) jumped! Danny did not, but was very content and happy swimming. The best part was that POPPY JUMPED!
Good To Know:
While Sapphire Hole was intimidating to jump and difficult to climb out, Ocean Hole was easy. The wall was high enough to make jumping fun, but not too high to make it scary. The ladder and platform made getting out very easy. The wide open water was inviting. In short, it was perfect!
As with most places in Eleuthera, we had the entire place to ourselves. Three people came and fed the fish for a few minutes, and then they left and we were alone again.
The road to Rock Sound was easy and Ocean Hole is well marked. The waters are rumored to have healing properties, and it’s also rumored that Jacques Cousteau explored this natural blue hole.
And now… here are way too many pictures of the children jumping :)
